Cool Congregations Recap

AzIPL hosted a “Cool Congregations” workshop on November 13, 2010, at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral in downtown Phoenix.

Representatives from 16 congregations heard Sarah Webb, creator of the national Cool Congregations campaign, describe how to get the program started in local congregations.

Participants were challenged to calculate their own carbon footprints and then learn about practical ways they could reduce their energy usage, saving on dollars as well as carbon emissions.

Congregations represented were from southern Arizona which included St. Francis in the Foothills UMC, and Desert Hills ELCA.  Those from Central AZ were Shepherd of the Hills UCC, St. Stephen’s Episcopal, Shadow Rock UCC, St. Mary’s Episcopal, St. Barnabas Episcopal, Trinity Mennonite, Temple Emanuel, Franciscan Renewal Center, Tempe Community Christian Church, King of Glory (ELCA), Scottsdale First Christian, St. Barnabas Episcopal, Mission del Sol Presbyterian, and Church of the Transfiguration Episcopal.
