For those who are able to join the prayer vigil in person, it will be held at the Sandra Day O’Connor United States Courthouse, 401 W. Washington St., Phoenix, AZ 85003. In-person vigil will be held while the court is in session. Court is scheduled to begin at 10:45 AM.
Background:
While Apache Stronghold’s appeal in the Supreme Court has yet to be heard, the San Carlos Apache Tribe, alongside the Sierra Club, the Center for Biological Diversity, and the Arizona Mining Reform Coalition will have a day in the Phoenix District Court at 10:45 AM on August 6. Judge Lanza will hear their motion for a preliminary injunction and temporary restraining order to block the federal governments attempted transfer of Oak Flat to Resolution Copper.
Prayer support is requested as on-going accompaniment by all faith traditions as decision are made that permanently impact these sacred lands and the communities connected to them.
