SUMMARY:Social Days of Action - Creation Care & Election
DESCRIPTION:RESOURCE – Social Media Toolkit \nBackground \nAs faith-based and affiliated organizations we have a direct voice to the faith communities we serve. This year\, so many issues we care about as people of faith; caring for the Earth\, seeking peace around the world\, ensuring all are fed and housed\, are issues being debated and discussed in upcoming elections. It is critical that our faith communities mobilize to ensure all voices and votes are heard. This messaging toolkit was created in the hope of bringing greater unity across organizations and faith traditions in the shared message that voting with our faith in mind\, and ensuring others can do the same\, will be so important this election season! \nTopline Messages \n\nFor people of faith\, our faith traditions inform our vote. The morals and values we have are shaped by our faith\, and when we vote those values\, we are living into our faith.\nCaring for the Earth/Creation/our Common Home\, is a tenet of many faiths\, and as we work to address the climate crisis\, we look for elected leaders who will take bold action to care for and protect our Earth now and for generations to come.\nOur democracy can only truly represent its people\, if everyone has the opportunity to vote and have their voice heard. People of faith are critical to ensuring all those in our communities and congregations can cast their vote.\n\nAction Steps \nTo use this messaging guide\, we hope that you will: \n\nUse the sample social media and graphics to promote this messaging to your networks\, \nJoin us in two days of action on 9/24/2024  and 10/22/2024\, where we will lift up our common faith voices in support of voter mobilization for people of faith\,\nLike\, share\, and lift up the posts and participation of all our partners to show unity and community in these efforts!\n\nLink to Resources: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1OHvyeKlbY7ISvBmL_YlF5CuCgviUOpvwDlsWmvV3URs/edit?usp=sharing

SUMMARY:On Holy Ground: Our Ballot & Cherishing Creation
DESCRIPTION:Cross in the Desert Methodist Church welcomes participation from the interfaith community at their “Dinner and Dialogue” evening. \nThis free event includes a delicious dinner and a thought-provoking presentation calling us to consider our ballot as Holy Ground from top to bottom\, and exploring the impacts on creation at home and around the planet. \nAs we gather to share a meal\, we’ll have time to hear the presenters’ journeys into climate advocacy and to reflect on how we want our own votes to care for creation. This event is an excellent opportunity to engage with fellow community members\, share perspectives\, and gain deeper insights into the importance of civic responsibility. \nSPEAKERS are from Arizona Interfaith Power and Light (AZIPL) \nMelanie Beikman (she/her) is the Director of Arizona Interfaith Power & Light (AZIPL). AZIPL is a spiritual response to the climate crisis\, mobilizing people of faith and conscience to care for our common home and work for climate justice. The work encompasses everything from advocacy to energy efficiency\, in collaboration with S.A.G.E. Teams (or Earth Care teams or Green Teams) at congregations across Arizona.  Melanie started adult life as a biologist\, but as life does\, new doors opened\, and she has spent the past decade in community organizing with faith communities. She has worked alongside other people of faith on issues such as education\, immigration\, affordable housing and homelessness.  Her current work is focused on energy equity and climate justice. \nGretchen Reinhardt (she/they) is AZIPL’s Program Coordinator for Faith Votes\, a role that invites each of us to reflect on how our spiritual roots manifest in supporting democracy with our vote.  Gretchen’s life-long Quaker quest to “live in that Life and Power that takes away the occasion for war” led her to graduate work in conflict resolution.  A week-long climate workshop in 2006 connected the spiritual\, scientific and humanitarian dots\, and Gretchen has been advocating for peace\, justice and effective\, non-partisan climate action ever since.  Gretchen finds joy and relaxation in wild spaces\, gardens\, dancing and with her husband and two adult children.  Gretchen holds degrees in Conflict Analysis & Resolution (MS) and Politics (BA).

SUMMARY:Social Days of Action - Voting & Creation
People of faith are critical to ensuring all those in our communities and congregations can cast their vote.\n\nAction Steps \nTo use this messaging guide\, we hope that you will: \n\nUse the sample social media and graphics to promote this messaging to your networks\, \nJoin us in two days of action on 9/24/2024  and 10/22/2024\, where we will lift up our common faith voices in support of voter mobilization for people of faith\,\nLike\, share\, and lift up the posts and participation of all our partners to show unity and community in these efforts!

SUMMARY:Our Vote. Our Democracy.
DESCRIPTION:Join Interfaith Power & Light (IPL) and League of Conservation Voters Education Fund (LCVEF) for a special National Voter Registration Day webinar. \nUsing our voices to fulfill our civic duty and vote in every election makes a difference in our communities – and our world. Threats to democracy and the environment are intertwined. We cannot effectively address the climate crisis\, advance environmental justice and protect our Sacred Earth without advocating for a strong democracy.  All human beings have inherent dignity and worth. Therefore\, all Americans should have equal access to the ballot box. \nThe Election Protection Coalition’s Hannah Walker will join us to talk about ways to protect democracy before and during Election Day by providing an overview of the Election Protection Hotline (866-OUR-VOTE) and its sister language lines that any voter can use. Attendees will also learn how they can help other voters in their community by becoming a poll monitor on Election Day in their community. \nMelanie Beikman from Arizona Interfaith Power & Light and Luther Hemby from Power the Vote NC will also share stories about the real-world impacts of voting in their communities and any challenges they face in the process.
