SUMMARY:Current Revolution: Nation in Transition
DESCRIPTION:“The shift to clean energy and electric vehicles is already happening-and it’s happening faster than anyone expected. Now our task is to manage the transition to ensure it’s both just and sustainable.” \n– Paul Hirt\, Emeritus Professor of Environmental History and Sustainability\, Arizona State University\n \nE2 invites you to a national webinar featuring the American Resilience Project’s latest work\, Current Revolution: Nation in Transition\, how the transition to renewable energy is both a blessing and a curse for communities living under the weight of environmental and health impacts of a coal fired power plant that provides the best jobs in the district. \nThe 30-minute film documents the closing of the Navajo Generating Station and examines how we\, as a nation\, can transition from fossil fuels to clean energy in a way that builds resilience and new opportunities for the communities and workers affected by the energy transition. \nDuring the webinar discussion\, we will highlight the importance of developing clean energy jobs and how the American Jobs Plan can support the Navajo nation\, Arizona\, and rural America. \nE2 Co-founder Nicole Lederer will moderate a discussion with Representative O’Halleran (AZ-1)\, filmmaker Roger Sorkin\, and Suzanne Singer & Edward Dee\, clean energy leaders in the Navajo community. \nUpon registering for the webinar you will receive a link to view the film in advance (we will not show the full movie in the webinar). \nThis webinar will be simultaneously translated into Spanish\, for those who choose.

SUMMARY:Sustaining Soil and Souls: Stories of Food and Faith
DESCRIPTION:The easiest way to enjoy food without gaining weight is to savor great stories about food.  Food has been a staple subject in as many cultures as there are cuisines. Join us as we hear storytellers from a variety of cultures and faith traditions tell stories about nourishing food that sustains both the soil and our souls.  \n“To live\, we must daily break the body and shed the blood of Creation.  When we do this knowingly\, lovingly\, skillfully\, reverently\, it is a sacrament.  When we do it ignorantly\, greedily\, clumsily\, destructively\, it is a desecration.  In such desecration we condemn ourselves to spiritual and moral loneliness\, and others to want.”  -Wendell Berry.  \nRegister here in advance for this meeting. Click here to hear a sample story.

SUMMARY:The Cry of the Earth
DESCRIPTION:The Cry of the Earth – The Cry of the Poor\nJoin us for a virtual exploration of Pope Francis’ call to environmental action to all people of good will\, Laudato si (Blessed Be).\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout this Event\n\n\nFour panelists (a spiritual leader\, an environmentalist\, a scholar\, and a student activist) will tell the story of how they each became eco-advocates and how ‘Laudato si’ inspires and informs their life and work (the “story of me”). Together they will discuss what difference Pope Francis’ encyclical makes for our lives and culture (the “story of us”)\, and how listening to the cry of the earth and the cry of the poor is relevant to us today as our cities and our planet burn (the “story of now”). \nOn Tuesday\, July 7th at 4 pm\, we will host a follow up zoom webinar to give participants an opportunity to narrate their own stories of call and advocacy inspired by hearing the call of the earth and the call of the poor. We will use the teaching of Marshall Ganz: “The story of me. The story of us. The story of now!” \nAZIPL joins with May All Be One for this webinar. May All Be One staged the first week-long statewide celebration of the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity in Arizona in 2020 and will do so again during the week of January 18-25\, 2021. May All Be One is a movement committed to Jesus’ prayer found in John 17:21\, “that they may all be one\,” bringing Christians together and bridging the divides between all people of faith through a range of programs\, public lectures and immersive events. \n\n\n\n\nZoom link: https://us02web.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_X0UslSgYTQabsFEHAz5N5A \n

SUMMARY:Catholic-Buddhist Dialogue: Solidarity and Engagement on Climate Change\, organized by the Parliament of World Religions
DESCRIPTION:As we confront the climate crisis\, it is critical to explore what it means to be Catholic and Buddhist. What aspects of these traditions contribute to factors that imperil life on the planet? Just as important\, how might these traditions enable us to realize our highest human potential\, the deep expression of compassion and love for each other\, especially the most vulnerable among us—human and non-human—who bear the brunt of the suffering?
